Stop Liberal ACORN, Debt Authorizing, Government-Run Health Care & Stimulus Spending Attempts
by: the american conservative union | published: 12 11, 2009
Liberal Democrats are trying to push through more stimulus and send through final passage of their massive government-run health care bill. Congress needs to feel the heat before they give into liberal attempts to keep millions and millions of dollars in funding to ACORN. That's right, the liberals are trying to get more money back into ACORN's coffers.
On Wednesday of this week, House Republican Leader John Boehner said, "Months later, with the country's focus on jobs, healthcare, and the Global War on Terror, Democrats are moving to [fund] ACORN."
An analysis of federal data by the Office of the Republican Leader staff determined that ACORN has received more than $53 million in direct funding from the federal government since 1994, and has likely received substantially more indirectly through states and localities that receive federal block grants.
Sign the Petition: Don't fund ACORN. Don't fund a $1 trillion taxpayer-funded government health care plan. Don't increase the nation's debt limit. Don't spend more money on so-called stimulus plans.
Not only have they spent billions and billions on pet liberal earmark projects, they actually increased their own personal Congressional office budgets by 8.4% --- while our economy is hurting, people are out of work and our national debt is on the rise, they saw fit to give themselves more money in their own budgets.
This latest liberal spending measure contained more than 5,000 earmarks. The Washington Post quoted Congressman Jerry Lewis (Calif.), the top Republican on the Appropriations Committee saying, "There is no question that the era of big government has returned to Washington, D.C."
We have them on the ropes...
USA Today newspaper contained a story indicating that the number of federal bureaucrats making more than $100,000 a year jumped by more than 35% during the latest period of recession.
At the beginning of the recession, in the Department of Transportation alone, one person made $170,000 a year but now - just eighteen months later - more than 1,690 employees make that amount. "The average federal bureaucrats wage is now $71,206, compared with $40,331 in the private sector," USA Today reported.
The American Federation of Government Employees union after the elections in 2008 said in their annual meeting, "Between 2006 and 2008, we were able to increase our political spending a whopping 33 percent." Then they said, "I do want to give a shout out to some AFGE leaders and activists who went far above and beyond the call of duty to elect Barack Obama president and expand our congressional majorities."
We should not be surprised that the AFGE and other government labor unions supported the stimulus bill and are encouraging more government spending. It is their political pay-back.
Just like the auto unions who received a Presidential Obama bailout, these unions are benefiting from unprecented liberal Democrat spending.
We need to shine the light and put the brakes on the spending and the political pay-backs.
Send a Message, Here and Now: Don't fund ACORN. Don't fund a $1 trillion taxpayer-funded government health care plan. Don't increase the nation's debt limit. Don't spend more money on so-called stimulus plans.
I am sure you have already heard, the liberal Democrats are now trying to raise the nation's debt ceiling limit to fuel their spending.
The Washington Examiner newspaper reported, "Democrats next week will introduce legislation to raise the nation's debt ceiling by as much as a staggering $1.8 trillion."
This would raise the ability for Congress to spend us further into debt by up to 15% for a total of another $1.925 trillion more in government debt.
The total amount then, all combined, that Obama's government could borrow would be $14 trillion - after we have already indebted ourselves to other nation's like China.
And, there is more talk about additional stimulus spending or re-using TARP bank bailout funds for more unproductive stimulus spending. So-called stimulus spending has done nothing but send us further into debt while our nation's unemployment rate has risen literally 47% higher since Obama's election in November of 2008.
Congress needs to hear our voice: stop throwing good money after bad.
Send a Message, Here and Now. Sign the Petition: Don't fund ACORN. Don't fund a $1 trillion taxpayer-funded government health care plan. Don't increase the nation's debt limit. Don't spend more money on so-called stimulus plans.
Just last week ACU fought back as the House voted to send the Senate legislation to keep the Death Tax in place. The vote received very little press attention. We are going to continue to fight this as it works its way through the Senate.
Pelosi and Reid's government-run health care schemes both contain huge tax increases and threaten to spend our nation further and further into debt for years to come.
We cannot afford the debt that Obama, Pelosi and Reid are placing on us, our families and future generations to come.
We need to send a strong, united message, now.
Help us send this message today by signing the Petition, here and now.
The spending must stop.
