» Sen. Clinton Accuses GOP of Creating Police State with Immigration Bill
By Jim Kouri | Published 03/9/2006 | Immigration | Unrated  | printer version

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) accused some Republicans of trying to create a "police state" in their plan to round up illegal immigrants. Members of the GOP proposed a new tough bill to crackdown on illegal immigrants who number between 12 and 20 million.

Clinton spoke out on the US immigration policy including several contradictions of previous speeches in which she accused the Bush Administration of not dealing with the illegal immigration problem.

» Annexing Mexico Revisited
By Erik Rush | Published 02/20/2006 | Conflict , Immigration , Politics , Culture | Unrated  | printer version

WorldNetDaily called “The Case for Annexing Mexico”, in which I (only partly tongue-in-cheek) offered the suggestion that Mexico be annexed to the United States in the manner of a protectorate or commonwealth (like Guam or Puerto Rico). Citing a variety of factors such as national security, drug trafficking, endemic and entrenched corruption in their government at all levels, illegal immigration and economic factors which (according to the scenario I put forth) could improve via this action, I set out general means by which this might be accomplished – peacefully, of course – and more specifically how ancillary contentious issues so prominent of late would be ameliorated.

The column was met with very mixed results. Some took it to be completely tongue-in-cheek, others used the opportunity to paint me (and of course all conservatives) as dangerous imperialists. At least one Mexican newspaper did a special feature on me, likening me to Pat Robertson as one of those dangerous “Christian” conservatives who view military incursion, assassination and clandestine action as solutions to all our foreign policy problems.

» Will California Become the First Official Communist State?
By Sher Zieve | Published 02/2/2006 | Immigration , Politics | Rating:  | printer version

There are lots of people who believe that most of California is already a communist—or at the very least a socialist state. But, as yet, it isn’t “official”. However, Los Angeles and San Francisco already propose and vote for virtually every leftist concept currently known to humans, as they vigorously work toward developing new ones; or adding onto existing radical Marxist notions.

Both cities have firmly announced that they have no intention of following current federal immigration laws and are considered “safe haven cities” for illegal aliens. Even banners and billboards have proudly proclaimed the state’s new name: “Mexifornia”. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to think of any state that more completely embraces communist principles than does California. By comparison, even New York seems conservative!

» If Vicente Fox Had Real Courage
By Randall Nunn | Published 02/1/2006 | Immigration | Rating:  | printer version

Last week the press reported that law enforcement discovered one of the longest and most sophisticated drug smuggling tunnels yet from Mexico into the United States (with over 2 tons of marijuana inside). The same week the Sheriff of Hudspeth County, Texas reported that drug smugglers who had crossed the border into United States territory were accompanied by Mexican military vehicles and individuals with Mexican military weapons and wearing Mexican military uniforms. These incidents continue to occur and there is no effective action being taken by either the U.S. or Mexican governments to stop such activities – at least not that the average citizen can discern.

» COPS TO BUSH: STOP THE INVASION
By Jim Kouri | Published 01/30/2006 | Immigration | Unrated  | printer version

During the last presidential campaign cycle, many national and local police organizations, as well as individual officers and commanders, supported the reelection of George W. Bush. Commanders and rank-and-file officers understood the fact that compared to the alternatives, Bush was the right man to serve as Commander-in-Chief in wartime.

For instance, the nation's largest organization, National Fraternal Order of Police -- representing over 350,000 officers -- endorsed Bush, as did many local organizations such as the New York Police Department's Police Benevolent Association, Detectives Endowment Association and others.
