While the politicians on Capitol Hill are running for cover and returning all the money they collected from Jack Abramoff, the lobbyist who has agreed to work with the Justice Department in a pay for influence investigation in the latest Beltway debacle, there are two scandals that have been glossed over and ignored.

There have been shocking discoveries about how the Federal Government has sought to undermine the American people once again. Abel Danger and the David Barrett report are two very serious issues that have been conveniently sealed. For those who are unfamiliar with Abel Danger and the Barrett Report this two part report will detail both.

Abel Danger was a top secret intelligence counter- terrorism operation. "It was a highly classified United States Special Operations Command military intelligence program under the command of the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM). It was created as a result of a directive from the Joint Chief’s of Staff in early October 1999 by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Hugh Shelton, to develop an Information Operations Campaign Plan against transnational terrorism, "specifically al-Qaeda," according to statements by Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Able_Danger

Further, "according to his statements and confirmed by four others, Able Danger had identified the September 11, 2001 leader Mohamed Atta, and three of the 9/11 plot's 19 hijackers, as possible members of an al Qaeda cell linked to the '93 World Trade Center Attacks." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Able_Danger

On August 18, 2005 the Flopping Aces Blog, pointed out that, Deborah Orin in The New York Post, reported on blockbuster revelations that exposed the weak side of the pre 9/11 mentality that seemed to be lackluster in the Nation’s national defense policy. She reported, "Shaffer has touched off a firestorm as the first person associated with the Abel Danger military operation to go public." The question, what was there to go public about?

Orin further wrote, "He said the unit tried three times to alert the FBI that it had identified Al Qaeda cells in the United States but military lawyers nixed it. Shaffer also says he alerted the 911 Commission in October of 2003 about how Abel Danger identified Muhammad Atta but commission staffers blew him off and failed to properly follow-up." This information is truly startling and compelling. It is terribly disappointing that a major discovery such as Colonel Shaffer’s would be disregarded.

Shortly after Colonel Shaffer going public several other members of the Abel Danger Operation were planning to go public but they were silenced when they were prevented from testifying at a Congressional Hearing by the Department of Defense. It seems extremely compelling how both Republicans (with a few rare exceptions such as Rep. Curt Weldon of Penn.) and Democrats let this one go. In a time when the Democrats express the need to know the truth and what really happened at all times as the minority party it appears they pick and choose the information they need to know.

Although an abbreviated version of the full Abel Danger story it is clear the government is seeking to protect the administration that was in power when this Counter- Terrorism task force was in operation. Whenever the extremely odd and rare occurrence of the Republicans and Democrats are united on any issue raises grave suspicion especially with the current political climate being so divisive.

There is one way to flush out all of the facts: The American Voter: If American’s send a message and they share their outrage by voting the people responsible for allowing such a breach of the public’s trust out of office answers would flow as a result.

Part two of this report will deal with another important government cover-up the release of the Barrett Report.
