One-World Obama Needs to Come Clean

For many of us summertime is an opportunity to enjoy all that America has to offer. Time with family at the lake or beach, parades, state and county fairs, church and community festivals are just some of the things we can all enjoy. 

But, for Barack Obama being in America around his fellow citizens was just not good enough.  He had to go to Europe and give speeches in front of non-Americans to get the oohs and aahs he craves for his liberal foreign policy agenda. 

His “European Vacation” reminds me of the movie with the same name starring Chevy Chase. Where Chase’s on-screen wife says: “You’re driving on the wrong side of the road.” Chase’s retort is that he knows that, but he’s also on the “wrong side” of the car. In this case, it’s Obama on the wrong side of the issues. 

The non-stop, liberal media coverage of Obama’s trip reminded us here at ACU of the critical need we have to explain the real policy agenda behind these efforts and the need to ensure the American people realize the stakes in this critical year. 

It reminded us of why ACU Chairman David A. Keene asked me to put together a plan to help re-focus the nation on our conservative principles using the party platform process and then deploy an effort nationwide to set the record straight on where the liberals really stand and what their agenda really means for America.

Obama and his liberal cabal in the Congressional leadership are trying to distract the American people from their real agenda.  They say it is not about drilling, but that it is about only finding alternatives while we are paying $4 or more for gas.  They say it is not about opposing small business with their increased taxes it is about people paying their “fair share.”   

Obama and the liberal Congressional leadership do not believe being tough on terrorists and having a strong-willed foreign policy creates a safer America.  They think solutions come in just sitting down to talk with terrorist-funding nations and holding hands as one-world.

Former Ambassador John Bolton put it best in an Op-Ed he penned for the Los Angeles Times when he said of Obama’s Germany speech: “The successes Obama refers to—the defeat of Nazism, the Berlin airlift and the collapse of communism—were all gained by strong alliances defeating determined opponents of freedom, not by ‘one-worldism.’  Perhaps Obama needs a remedial course in Cold War history, but the Berlin Wall most certainly did not come down because ‘the world stood as one." 

Obama and his liberal policy drafters would have the American people believe that we need the tacit approval of the world before we would act to protect the interests of Americans.  

It is the underlying message of his policies. We should not be surprised. 

According to our “Ratings of Congress”, Obama has voted on the liberal side of all policies more than 92% of the time since he has been in Congress.  Also, you should not be surprised that Obama has also been ranked as the “most liberal senator” by the National Journal. 

These facts, and the policies that underlie them, are what we need to put in the hands of the American people.

Bolton said of Obama’s speech, “when substance did slip in, it was truly radical, from an American perspective.  Although well received in the Tiergarten, the Obama speech actually reveals an even more naive view of the world than we had previously been treated to in the United States.”

We don’t need an uninformed American foreign policy that is concerned with what the people of France, Germany or Iran think.  We need a foreign policy that protects America’s interests and keeps us safe. 

Ambassador Bolton continued, “One hopes even Obama, inexperienced as he is, doesn't see all these ‘walls’ (separating our policies from those of other nations) as essentially the same in size and scope. But beyond the incoherence, there is a deeper problem, namely that ‘walls’ exist not simply because of a lack of understanding about who is on the other side but because there are true differences in values and interests that lead to human conflict.” He added, “Tearing down the Berlin Wall was possible because one side—our side—defeated the other.”

The young people of Berlin who attended Obama’s speech would still be peering through a wall to see one another if not for Reagan.  They seem to have forgotten.  
One journalist, based in Berlin and writing for Australia’s Herald Sun newspaper, wrote: “In a phenomenon that has been dubbed "Obamamania", the hype surrounding the Democrat presumptive presidential candidate is intense in Europe right now. One German newspaper featured a front page image of Obama dressed as Superman.  The mood at Obama's Berlin speech was not dissimilar to a rock festival complete with DJ's spinning tracks before and after Obama took to the stage and scores of young people dancing in the streets.” 

Europe may want a weak Presidential foreign policy.
