Obama, Won't Give Up on Gov't Health Care

This morning's Washington Post headline says it all:  Obama offers a new proposal on health care.

The Wall Street Journal's front page says: Obama Renews Health Push.

"President Barack Obama is upping the ante on health care," the Journal says, "Instead of paring his ambitions, as some in the White House had recommended, the President proposed a new plan... adding more spending, more subsidies and a revised mix of taxes."

The Post's take?  "President Obama signed his determination to forge ahead with a Democratic vision of comprehensive health-care reform as he unveiled on Monday an ambitious proposal..."

Americans turned out in force at August Town Hall Meetings, Tea Party protests filled the land last year, a Republican won Ted Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts and yet Barack Obama is like the dog who won't give up his bone.

Barack Obama is still trying to pass a version of his massive, government-run health care plan.  It is not enough that our government now owns pieces of car companies, that we have bailed out insurance companies and that he is using federal taxpayer money to subsidize bloated state governments.

Obama is going to make one more push to get his health care plan.

He knows that if Republicans do win a bunch of seats this November it will never pass.  So, he is trying to do it now.

We can't wait for the elections in November to oppose him, we need to do so now before this massive, government-run, bureaucracy laden plan is locked in place.

Obama and his aides Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and others have apparently made the political calculation that pummeling the American people into submission is the best strategy.

Many Democrat Senators figure once we have more government-run, bureaucratic health care we will suddenly fall in love with it.

In fact, the liberal appointed Colorado Democrat Senator Michael Bennet, according to the liberal Huffington Post, said he would support health care reform even if it cost him his job.

Appearing on CNN's "State of the Union," the Colorado Democrat was asked whether he would vote in favor of the legislation even if "every piece of evidence tells you, if you support that bill you will lose your job."  "Yes," Bennet replied, succinctly.

Some of these liberal Democrats seem perfectly willing to walk the plank even if it costs them their position, a sacrifice on behalf of big government and Obama's presidency.

According to the latest NBC poll, President Obama's approval rating is now below 50%, yet he is still marching toward government-run health care.

But, average Americans you and I over the long term will be left having to pay the bill.

Just how big will the tax burden be on us, our children and grandchildren if this bill passes?

We should look to the failures elsewhere to see what health care under new, massive government spending and oversight may become.

Just this month, Canadian newspapers reported that their Newfoundland Premiere Danny Williams would undergo heart surgery in the United States.

A Canadian government leader - the equivalent of a Governor here in the United States - is traveling to a foreign country for his health care, despite the fact that Canada has socialized health care.

His Deputy Premiere told the newspapers there, "He has gone to a renowned expert in the procedure that he needs to have done."

Premiere Williams himself told Canadian  TV news that it was a special surgery. He said, I did some checking of course and ... the surgery ...was not offered to me in Canada."

A special surgery this Canadian leader needed was not offered in the Canadian socialized health care system.  If we march down the road to socialized medicine, where will we go for our health care?

You probably know that this week the President is trying to get Republicans to attend a health care summit at the White House.

His claim: he is now open to Republican and conservative ideas.  But his newly released, revised plan is still the same old Obama government health care repackaged.

As a resident of the Washignton, DC area I can tell you that our local TV stations show what this is really all about.  TV ads began running this week trying to paint Republicans as obstructionist.  The liberal special interests who want big government and government-run health care are back to putting the pressure on our Republican Senators and moderate Democrat Senators.

The only way we can push back is with your help.  They need to hear from you.  So, when you sign the petition we are going to send you to ACU's newly re-designed Conservative.org website so that you can call your Senators individually as well.

Our nation's motto is E PLURIBUS UNUM -  out of many, one.  Meaning, as we come together to sign petitions, we become one large voice.   As you make calls it only adds more pressure.

This week's CPAC meeting - hosted and sponsored by your American Conservative Union Foundation - revealed hundreds of ideas and solutions from conservatives for problems facing our nation.

We look forward to sharing some of those with you over the coming weeks.

The President's meeting this week seems to be more about politics than solutions.

House Republican Leader John Boehner released a statement yesterday that reads: "On Thursday, the White House will stage a taxpayer-funded 'bipartisan summit' during which the starting point for discussion will be a new health care plan (presented by President Obama) that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says it cannot even analyze due to a lack of detail.  House Republicans posted our alternative health care bill online months ago - and the CBO has not only analyzed it, but confirmed that it would lower health care premiums by as much as 10 percent for American families and small businesses."

Conservatives have solutions, but the liberals are ignoring them.
