ACORN is back at it again.
Or more correctly, additional information on what ACORN has been up to all along has come to light. You'll remember it was the ACU who was one of the first to raise alarms about ACORN.
We produced videos, issued petitions and worked to spread the message about ACORN: voter fraud, mixing taxpayer funds with political activities and their direct ties to Barack Obama.
Now we have learned more.
As I am sure you have seen, ACORN within the last two weeks has been tied to illegal activities involving prostitution.
ACORN workers have also now finally been indicted for illegal voter activities... a pattern of activities we helped uncover last year.
NOW IT IS TIME FOR CONGRESS TO END ANY FUNDING, WHATSOEVER, FOR ACORN OR ANY ACORN RELATED SUBSIDIARY.
A back-door way for ACORN to receive funding is to funnel it through one of their related groups. All ACORN entities must be disqualified. The Senate has taken one step, but we must finish the job.
We must demand that Congress end funding for ALL ACORN related groups ... ACU is fighting this battle. To win the battle we need your help.
As we pointed out in our ACU YouTube created and inspired videos last year, which we will provide a link to after you sign the petition, ACORN has direct ties to Maxine Waters who called for the "socializing" ie. socialism of America's energy producers.
ACORN has direct ties to pressuring Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to give subprime loans; which helped cause the downfall of our nation's economy. ACORN had direct ties to voter fraud across multiple states and ACORN received $800,000 from Barack Obama's campaign - which was never fully investigated.
ACORN is a corrupt organization that is pushing an ULTRA-LIBERAL agenda, plain and simple.
As the Associated Press reported, "ACORN's national drive produced some 1.3 million voter applications (in 2008). Authorities on Wednesday began arresting 11 people suspected of falsifying ... voter applications."
The Florida Palm Beach Post newspaper said, "ACORN workers busted for fraud. At least five ACORN workers are behind bars and law enforcement officials are seeking six others for forging signatures on voter registration applications last year."
It is time for Congress to stop ALL funding of ACORN.
You may have seen the latest undercover videos on FOX News or heard the latest news on their working to support prostitution. It almost seems unbelievable - but the video proves it.
The Washington Post reported, ACORN employees in Baltimore and DC offices were caught on tape advising a couple on how to buy a house to use as a brothel and to house the prostitutes.
Is this how ACORN has been working to "help the community" with housing... by helping illegal enterprises acquire buildings?
They have claimed they are merely aiding liberal goals of promoting affordable housing. They have been praised by liberal politicians from Barack Obama to Chris Dodd for their work on housing. Now we find out that their housing work includes setting up prostitution rings. Republican legislators in Maryland have called for a full investigation into ACORN's Baltimore office. We must do more. Our ACORN video produced last year - a link to which we will provide after you sign the petition - shows how ACORN has used its housing arm, which receives federal funds and was involved in the brothel, to promote its political activities. We must stop the funding.
The Baltimore Sun newspaper reported that ACORN workers were not only willing to help set up housing for a prostitution ring, they were also willing to help people create documents that would enable their tax evasion.
That's right. They not only want to take your money - taxpayer money - to fund illegal activities they want to teach criminals how to promulgate tax evasion so that you - not they - pay for their criminal enterprises.
It was reported widely that Barack Obama's administration actually worked to have ACORN involved in the next census. The very census that is used to develop district lines for state and federal elections and that is used to hand out federal funds.
Only after severe criticism from ACU and others did the Census Bureau finally announce just last week that it would cut its ties with ACORN. The New York Times, in a very small story, reported that Mr. Robert Groves, the Census Director, grudgingly stated, "It is clear that ACORN's affiliation with the 2010 census promotion has caused sufficient concern..."
This after the Census Bureau previously announced in March that there were going to use ACORN and the NAACP together to assist in the "hiring of census workers around the country."
The real question should be - why was ACORN involved in the Census in the first place?
We here at ACU will continue fighting to get the answer.
We are also going to work to have a full FBI investigation into the Barack Obama campaign to find out what they knew and what they were funding with their $800,000 payment to ACORN.
A former ACORN worker came forward in March and stated that "more than half" of ACORN's voter registrations in 2008 were "invalid" in testimony to a House Judiciary Subcommittee. She said that if anyone reported fraud, they were thrown "under the bus."
We are not going to rest. Was the Obama campaign payment, his election and the census work connected?
Where did this money go, who was involved and what did ACORN do for Obama. As our videos last year, available when you sign the petition, prove these are questions that must be answered.
According to federal documents, ACORN's Housing Corporation - which our video noted last year - has received $1.6 million in federal taxpayer funds. Earlier, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) gave ACORN more than $8 million in taxpayer funds.
Where did this money go?
In January it was reported by the Seattle-Tacoma News Tribune that, even before Obama took office, ACORN was working behind the scenes to drum up support for the eventual passage of the massive, liberal stimulus program saying the funding would, "benefit the more troubled among us."
As ACU reported to you and fought against earlier this year - their push for the Stimulus was just another attempt by ACORN to grab even more taxpayer money.
Should ACORN still have 501(c)(3) non-profit status after it has been involved in prostitution rings and after it directly took funds to aid Obama's 2008 campaign? I say no.
ACORN has received millions and millions more dollars in taxpayer funds for many years. Where is all of this money going?
As Reporter Stanley Kurtz wrote last year, ACORN is "the largest radical group in America." Writer Sol Stern in 2003 noted ACORN is the successor to the 1960's "New Left" with an "agenda of anti-capitalism." It should be no surprise then that they have been involved in protests against private businesses, forcing private companies to push subprime loans and actions which have harmed our economy.
YESTERDAY THE U.S. SENATE TOOK ITS FIRST STEPS TOWARD DENYING ACORN FUNDING. However, this is just the first step.
The House must act and we must force all subsidiaries, and affiliated groups to also be disqualified for federals funds.
We cannot do it - however - without your help. We simply must have your continued help to fight ACORN.
