Multi-Cultural Amorality in the White House

The Washington Post reports that President Obama aims to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Doing so will offend hundreds of millions of heterosexual married couples in order to please a minority of voters. If one looks only at homosexual couples, that minority is probably less than 1% of the population, particularly if one takes into account the lesser degree of stability in homosexual relationships than in heterosexual ones.

Politically, the President's opposition to DOMA is probably motivated by his need to throw a sop to his liberal-progressive-socialist worshippers, who have been irritated or outraged by his failure to deliver on many of his campaign promises.

In any event, the President's intention with regard to DOMA pushes the United States further along the road to a socialist, materialist state in which only a deracinated civil religion will be tolerated in the public square. Political authorities in such a state, as we saw in Soviet Russia and Hitler's National Socialist Germany, decide what is acceptable conduct and punish conduct that they find inimical to their pretensions of power.

Because these secular and materialist rulers are unconstrained by a higher moral law, which they reject, there is no limit to the powers they presume to exercise. Given his strong affirmation of abortion, which is to be funded by all taxpayers against the will of the majority in the President's proposed National Socialist Healthcare program, the President is clearly not a Bible-believing Christian. His aim to degrade the status of traditional marriage adds weight to that conclusion.

In a society towards which President Obama and the secularized Baby Boomer and post-Baby Boomer liberal-progressives are moving us, Jefferson's appeal, in the Declaration of Independence, to "the laws of nature and nature's God" no longer has meaning.

A critical part of the laws of nature and of nature's God is the traditional heterosexual, child-bearing family. Historically the family has been the most important single factor in traditional education: passing on to the next generation the culture and morality of society, teaching elementary things like right and wrong, civility, and respect for those who shaped society in the past.

President Obama's effort to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act is just one more liberal-progressive assault upon the survival of traditional families. It comes atop his support for abortion and the inextricably related surge of illegitimacy and single-parent families, which in turn spawns our high crime rate among young males without fathers.

Liberal-progressives already have effectively banned the laws of nature and nature's God from the public forum of politics, education, and judicial process. The Bill of Rights, since Franklin Roosevelt's 1936-37 scheme to pack the Supreme Court with his socialist supporters, has increasingly been interpreted to remove the originally intended protection of individual liberties against exercise of arbitrary government power. Instead, as in the case of opposition to DOMA, arbitrary government power will be employed to herd all of us into a social-justice society of moral relativity, homogeneity, and equal poverty.

In the political paradigm of socialist leaders like Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini, individuals have no rights apart from those the political state deigns to confer. Individuals are no more than bricks in the walls of the edifice of the political state. As Mussolini described it in The Political and Social Doctrine of Fascism (1933):

Fascism conceives of the State as an absolute, in comparison with which all individuals or groups are relative, only to be conceived of in their relation to the State. .The Fascist State has drawn into itself even the economic activities of the nation, and, through the corporative social and educational institutions created by it, its influence reaches every aspect of the national life and includes, framed in their respective organizations, all the political, economic and spiritual forces of the nation.

This is the President's paradigm, which impels his intention to degrade the legal and moral status of traditional, heterosexual marriage, in which children have been taught the sanctity of morals and individual political liberties, both of which stand in the way of onrushing socialist collectivism.
