Man Was Created In God's Image

For nearly a century, our public school textbooks have been more than suggesting that humans are related to specific members of the animal kingdom. In fact, Darwinism insists on such teaching.

The untruthfulness of the man-made theory of evolution is astounding. It's bewildering that well-educated people should believe so ardently in this unproven science. This godless teaching is foisted upon our society as though it were empirically-demonstrated fact. Because of Charles Robert Darwin's belief, secularization and atheism have gained wide acceptance throughout the world.

Darwin himself started out collecting beetles and birds, and ended up an agnostic.

"They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator — who is forever praised. Amen" (Romans 1:25).

There is a call for an exodus from public schools because many people are fed up with the way Christianity is being diminished there. It's time to rescue our kids from government educational programs that brainwash and demean our students' faith and intelligence. The teaching of a destructive evolutionary theory is just one more reason to remove our children from these classrooms. There are alternatives, including homeschooling or parochial schools. Where there's a will, there's a way.

"Survival of the fittest"

The "theory" of Darwinism tells us that the human race — along with all other living things — is in a battle for "survival of the fittest." Only those who are the toughest and the biggest are suited for survival. Species that are weak simply disappear from the face of the earth. It is a rather brutal outlook on life — but unfortunately; most of people simply accept it, particularly when it is presented in an environment of trust.

What is interesting is that people tend to frown on those who use extreme force to get ahead. Even though people understand that nature is untamable, we intuitively understand that those who trample on the weak never really achieve admiration or true greatness.

There are evolutionary biologists who approach the history of life from their own special area of interest. Areas of focus among such specialists include the evolution of bacteria, the Cambrian explosion, the evolution of invertebrates, the rise of fish, the invasion of land by amphibians, the age of dinosaurs, the evolution of reptiles, birds, and mammals, mass extinctions, and the evolution of humans. The Creator of the universe is scarcely given any thought.

America's goodness comes from people of faith. However, godless thinking has robbed us of generations of children who have grown up trying everything that a secularized pop culture has to offer. Peers often form our youth's morals and character — not unwavering faith in a Creator who cares for them. Why should young people believe in a half-hearted Creator who willy-nilly allowed things to sort of fall into place? Darwinist theory denies that there was a "personal interaction" in the "creation of man and woman." Darwin's hypothesis distances God from them. The Word, however, says that such exclusion is not true:

"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" (Genesis 2:7).

It is my contention that the teaching of a fraudulent, man-made theory of the origin of life is one of the reasons many people are confused about spiritual matters and why they dismiss The God Factor in the creation of humanity. Darwinism teaches the transmutation of species — the unproven belief that species naturally evolve into new species, culminating in humans. But I ask, what is it that separates man from the animals in the first place?

Humans are in a class of their own

Some would argue that what separates us from beasts is that we humans build houses and live in communities. But that is not unique to the human race. Ants, bees, and other animals also construct homes and live in colonies and communities.

People can verbally communicate with one another. Is that what makes us different from animals? Not when you consider that animals also communicate, using a form of language. Those grunts and squeals actually mean something, however limited.

Trees and plants, as well, communicate using a chemical language. It's been discovered that when an infestation of destructive caterpillars becomes a threat to the forest, infected trees begin immediately sending out a chemical warning to other trees. The healthy trees receive the signal and begin to boost their immune systems. The trees produce a chemical that tastes extraordinarily bad. The hungry caterpillars are turned off and the trees are spared from destruction. God saw fit that even trees should be able to communicate with each other.

Let's be clear about this: It is not social interaction alone, or communication skills alone, that distinguishes humans from other living things. It's the fact that God made us unique — putting us miles above the other living things and creatures in intelligence, language, and social abilities.

Although all animals communicate, human language — with all its multiple variations of meaning, inflection, usage, and form — is in a class by itself. Chimpanzees do not have the communication skills of a nine-month-old human baby. The chimp's achievements fall far short when compared with those of the average two-year-old.

Ants can do a massive amount of work, yet no one is ready to suggest that an insect's achievements can be compared to anything like the skyscrapers people have built on the New York Manhattan skyline. Ants do not draw architectural plans, nor do they consult with engineers. Animals, bugs, trees, and plants do not have the capacity to reason as human beings do.

I have to admit there are some pretty amazing pooches that can learn to fetch slippers. There are horses that can perform impressive stunts, and roaring lions that can be taught to jump through hoops, but they still do not think the way we do. A very smart dog might be able to find his way home, but he does not spend time planning his retirement or thinking about what to do for summer vacation. A big brown-eyed raccoon might be capable of figuring out how to open your garbage can, but not one raccoon has ever celebrated a wedding anniversary, or thought of buying its mate a birthday present. Animals do not have the capacity to think about special occasions or fully appreciate their relationships.

Animals can't decipher the difference between a kindergartner's finger painting and a Van Gogh masterpiece. Critters don't think in abstract terms. They lack the ability to meditate, contemplate, and pray over a passage of scripture. God gave man dominion other the earth and the animals.

Clearly, the human race is set apart from other living creatures:

"Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them" (Genesis 1:26, 28).

Their own kind

The Word says that the Lord made all the animals after their own kind. In other words, dogs will always produce puppies, and cows will always produce calves. When animals give birth, the offspring are made in their images.

"Then God said, 'Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind, and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good" (Genesis 1:24-25).

No matter what Darwinists want us to believe, there are only faint similarities between us and animals because the same Designer intended it that way.

It's amazing that when we think about it, even the most staunch evolutionists, while charting their own family trees, refer to the rest of creation as the lower animals. When evolutionists see a difference between man and animals, however, they still foolishly insist that humans and animals are one and the same in kind.

God bestows a special status on the human race: "What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, even the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas" (Psalms 8:4-8 ).

The debate between Intelligent Design and Darwinism is not allowed in our public school classes — but it should be. It is clear to believers that humankind is the masterpiece of God's work. Only people have minds that can critically think and deduce complex things. Only the human heart has the capacity to fall in love and understand and appreciate the joys of intimacy. According to scripture, God made woman for man for his divine purposes. Passion between a husband and wife is a gift from The Almighty. Animals procreate, while people enjoy transcendent relationships and raise closely-connected families.

"And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. "And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 2:18-25).

Let's be honest

I want to encourage everyone to do a little self-examination today. As you look over your life, be honest and ask if there is something you need to express to God. Maybe you have been a doubter concerning God's existence. Look inside of yourself, and find the correct answer. "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13).

Be assured the Lord loves you. He wants to give you only good things, including eternal life. At this very moment, a mansion is being prepared for those who love Him. There is no housing debacle where the most Holy God abides. Your heavenly home has already been paid for by a loving Savior. Someday, His people will finally reside there with Him:

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there ye may be also" (John 14:1-3).

There is a clarion call for revival. We are living in troubling times. America's Revival will grow only when our people return to allegiance to God. Only then can our liberties and freedoms be restored. Upon this depends the future of our republic. Please sign the Pledge for America's Revival right now. I enjoyed reading a well researched op-ed that makes the creation of man top priority. We are not animals nor are we related to them. It could not be made much more clear in your op-ed , but most important in God's word. You're a joy to read.

Dear Marie, Con Crus is an awesome website, your opinion's are respected. However, the reality of "common descent" of all life on our planet is so well established, that trying to refute it , borders on the delusional. This obviously doesn't preclude God! Science is rational, God is arational, you're being irrational when you attmpt to comingle the two. Much respect, RJS
