Election of Lies

The most dishonest American presidential election in history

The dream of Democrat lefties never dies, and they will go to any length to make it a reality. The result of this political jihad is the most dishonest blizzard of lies coming from one party and its amen chorus in the mainstream media ever witnessed in an American presidential election.

A small sampling of the dishonesty echoed by Obama and his supporters, including news reporters, editorialists, professional pundits, academic toadies and the Democratic Party establishment:

  • Lies about Barack Obama’s background. The sanitizing of his long-time associations and sympathetic affiliations with extremist anti-American radicals like William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, Muslim Rashid Khalidi and Chicago real estate felon Tony Rezko. These deliberate evasions in the media are echoed by tergiversations by the candidate himself.
  • Lies about Obama economic proposals. The endless mantra about 95% of the public not getting an income tax increase, the deliberate confusion about tax cuts and tax credits are belied by responsible economists’ declarations that these proposals are patently false. The candidate purposely avoids mentioning all the other planned increases, like taxes on capital gains, Social Security, Medicare, businesses, and estate taxes during a recession. These, plus his fustian promises to fund innumerable new government spending programs, will break the economic back of the U.S. His off-the-cuff remarks indicate that he favors socialist egalitarianism.
  • Lies about attempts by Acorn and other leftist organizations to fraudulently register voters. Under investigation in 15 states, Obama has long ties to this group, which he and his supporters desperately try to minimize and obfuscate.
  • Lies about racism. Democrat agents have raised the false charge of racism against anyone and everyone who dares criticize Obama or his wife – against Geraldine Ferraro, John McCain, Sarah Palin, even Ed Rendell and Bill Clinton. This from a candidate who adoringly sat in the pews of a black liberation theology-spewing preacher for 20 years.
  • Lies about supporting the Second Amendment. Obama’s record in voting for legislative schemes to prohibit handguns and other firearms is contradicted by campaign oratory supporting these rights.
  • Lies about a strong support for Israel. Obama’s outreach to Muslims and the phony “Palestinian cause” indicate his true intentions toward the State of Israel. He has surrounded himself with warmed-over Jimmy Carter policy advisor Zbigniew Brezezinski and others who are openly hostile toward Israel.
  • Lies about the subprime mortgage crisis. That Democrats were the prime movers behind the current financial mess is incontrovertible – beginning with the Carter policies of community reinvestment in 1977, with pressure put on lending institutions to finance risky loans to minorities. Democratic politicians were in cahoots for decades with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to look the other way, without regulation, as these loans were repackaged as investments for Wall Street. The Democrats in charge received large contributions from Fannie and Freddie, plus favorable treatment from mortgage brokers, yet they prefer to point the finger of blame elsewhere.

For years, the Democratic Party has become expert in rationalizing – offering plausible yet untrue reasons for its motives and intentions – truly earning it the moniker of “the evil party.” Republicans no less proudly wear the mantle of ”the stupid party.”

Slow to react and apparently tone-deaf in the arena of communications, coupled with a limited ability to discern the wishes of their most loyal supporters, Republicans have tarnished the brand equity of Republicanism everywhere, to the point that voters can no longer believe that the party stands for anything of substance worth fighting for.

In fact, stupidity reins supreme in Republican circles. Unable to learn the lessons from the Bob Dole debacle of 1996, they peck younger and more vibrant candidates to death for ideological peccadillos, those who might have connected with general election voters and run a vigorous campaign against the youthful, inexperienced Obama.

So rather than nominate a strong and charismatic standard-bearer, they nominate instead a far older man who made his reputation by stiffing his party orthodoxy and pandering to the liberal sensibilities of the opposing party. One who, lacking in imagination and unable to articulate a clear and consistent vision, has had great difficulty in inspiring voters compared to his opponent.

Leading in all the polls, the election is Obama’s to lose. The only thing John McCain has going for him is the FUD Factor – fear, uncertainty and doubt on the part of voters that Obama’s inexperience, philosophy and dubious past might make him very risky and not ready to be elevated to the presidency.

But with the unrelenting legion of lies and blatant media partisanship unique to this election, this may be well-nigh impossible.
